The Food You Consume Can Influence Your Unborn Child

The miracle of human development, which begins from two cells and is completed when a new human organism is ready to be born, is a complex process that requires the expecting mother to consume a great variety of nutritional substances in different quantities and at the right time. The fact that the food consumed during the pregnancy months affects the normal development of the pregnancy greatly differentiates the diet plan a mother follows while expecting to deliver a new human being into this world.

By using the word development experts do not only symbolize the size increase of the embryo, but also the quality of nutritional substances allocated so as to ensure a healthy progress of the nine months of pregnancy. As a consequence, during a woman's pregnancy period is essential for her to consume more proteins of high nutritional value, like calcium, phosphor, and magnesium, for a quicker division of the embryo's cells and the development of its bones. Pregnant women need to consume a great quantity of iron, vitamin B12, copper, and vitamin B6 so as to enhance the production of red blood cells that are needed, apart from consuming double the quantity of folic acid required by each of the billion new cells that are produced.

Nutritional experts and pregnancy doctors agree that some types of foods should be avoided during the pregnancy months by the expecting mother, since they contain high levels of fat, sugar or salt, or even may contain substances that can harm the embryo. Examples of such types of foods a prospective mother should avoid are: alcohol, caffeine-based beverages, caramels and fruits covered with sugar, biscuits with fillings or fried (like donuts), delicatessen processed meats, salty or fried snacks, ready soups, crèmes or whipped cream, white sugar, liver and intestinal organs in general.

On the other hand, foods abundant in iron have to be daily included in a pregnant woman's diet so as to provide with the necessary amount for the normal development of the embryo. Instead of asking around and following friend's advice, consult a specialized doctor who can create a balanced nutritional plan to be followed during the months you are pregnant. In general, natural foods that are full with essential nutrients can help you and your baby develop normally and assist your body functions. Spinach, beans, wheat, broccoli, oranges, fish, and water, are the most important food categories your diet has to include. Keep exercising, following your doctor's advice and eating right, and your child will thank you one day for sticking with a healthy and highly nutritional plan.
